Gantry Palletizing

The gantry is the slowest of all the palletizer types, but also the most flexible in the number of pallets it can pick from and place to at the same time. It can be manufactured to handle very heavy loads, up to 2000 lbs and while the gantry physically spans a larger area than all of the other robot types, its actual surface area in contact with the floor is generally less.

Palletizing Gantry systems are commonly used in large OFS (Order Fulfillment Systems) where they can travel to one of many pallets retrieving cases or layers of cases and placing that load onto one or many outbound pallets. Gantry systems have been constructed that can achieve a linear speeds slightly greater than 15 feet per second. Gantry systems although slower, are usually very expensive.
